Kelley Woolley

Associate Director of Library Services

Kelley Woolley is the Associate Director of Library Services for the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance.  She has been in this role since July 2022.  This is her first position in a zoo or research library.  Previously, Kelley worked in public and military libraries.  Her most recent military library role was as the Director of Camp Pendleton Libraries in Oceanside, CA (2020-2022).  She also worked in Twentynine Palms as the Director of Libraries for Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (2017-2019).  She has worked in public libraries as the Technology Librarian at the Rancho Mirage Public Library in Rancho Mirage, CA (2016-2017) and as the Associate Director of Technical Services for the Southern Pines Public Library in Southern Pines, NC (2008-2016).  In between the two Marine Corps libraries, Kelley worked with a library software company, but she quickly realized that software sales was not her calling.

Prior to her career as a librarian, Kelley was a high school teacher in Sanford, NC teaching computer applications and keyboarding in the Business department of Lee County High School and Southern Lee High School.  She also had a brief stint as a volleyball coach, which was a sight to see – as she has little athletic ability.

Kelley graduated with her Master of Library Science degree from East Carolina University in 2013.  She also has a Master of Vocational Education with a focus in Information Technology (2009) and a Bachelor of Science in Business Education from East Carolina University (1999).

When she is not working, Kelley is busy crafting.  Her current crafting projects include crocheting granny squares, knitting a sweater (going on 3 years now), paint pouring and making jewelry.  She is the bonus mom of three teenagers and married to her high school sweetheart.  She is the oldest of 4 girls, an aunt to 4 nieces, and the mom to 2 cats.  She enjoys gardening, watching 80s movies, and listening to a variety of music.  She has more cardigans than she cares to admit and is an avid collector of rocks and earrings.  She enjoys thrifting and antiquing whenever she has the time.
