Shauna King, M.A.Sc.

Senior Research Coordinator

Shauna King serves San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance as a Senior Research Coordinator in Recovery Ecology. Her research interests include the application of behavioral ecology and ecosystem ecology to biodiversity conservation, particularly to endangered species.

She is currently working on the first reintroduction of the Pacific pocket mouse, and also oversees activities at the Pocket Mouse Conservation Breeding Facility, including breeding and behavioral experiments. The goal of the Pacific pocket mouse program is to create sustainable wild populations in the historic range of the subspecies, where there are currently only three extant populations.

Shauna obtained her bachelor’s degree in Biology and Psychology from the University of King’s College, Canada, and her master’s degree in Applied Science in Wildlife Health and Population Management from the University of Sydney, Australia. She has worked with endangered terrestrial, avian, and aquatic species in several countries.
